Johnny Cash Trail Runs & Community Bike Ride

Run participants start on the Johnny Cash Trail behind the Folsom Rodeo Arena and head across the 190-foot-long, wood arched Robbers Ravine Bridge for some spectacular scenery. The run courses continue along the trail through Folsom State Prison property and beneath Prison Road at Natoma Street using the new bike/pedestrian tunnel. Runners continue on the trail heading toward the iconic Johnny Cash Bridge that spans Folsom Lake Crossing. The 4.2-mile run/walk is an out-and-back course with a turn-around and water station just beyond the Johnny Cash Bridge. The course finishes after runners cross the Robbers’ Ravine Bridge on their return.

The 6.2-mile run and community bike ride participants will continue over the Johnny Cash Bridge to the Folsom Lake Trail along Folsom Lake Crossing. At the end of the downhill portion of the trail, the course transitions to the Jedidiah Smith Memorial Trail. Participants remain on the trail to the historic Truss Bridge and continue toward Leidesdorff Street in Folsom’s Historic District, back onto the Johnny Cash Trail to the finish line.

The community bike ride finishes on Stafford Street, with free bike parking near the top of the Rodeo Arena. All participants can enjoy the post-race and post-ride festival in Folsom City Lions Park.

The free outdoor festival is open from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with live music by Manzanita from 10 a.m.to 12:30 p.m.

All Community Bike Ride participants must be 12 and over.

The Johnny Cash Trail will close to the public starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2017 to prepare for an evening fund-raiser to benefit the Johnny Cash Trail. The trail will reopen for public access at noon Sunday, October 15, 2017.
