Man in Black
Towering 50-feet over the center of the Johnny Cash Legacy Park, stands the Man in Black. This 40-foot tall steel sculpture with flame cutouts stands atop a 10-foot high granite base, gazing over the the park and trails toward Folsom Prison.
The size of the monumental art piece, conceived by Gary Tillery of the Fine Art Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany, represents the massive impact Johnny Cash had on the music industry, and the flame cutouts are inspired by his passion for helping those less fortunate.
As the sun sinks low each evening, the Man in Black appears to burst into flames. Even now, from his vantage point high above the park center, his passion and fire burn bright.
