The weather will be beautiful this weekend- perfect for a Memorial Day bike ride!
If you’re itching to grab your bike and hit the trails, or would love to take your family out to watch a race, you won’t want to miss the cycling events happening in Folsom this weekend.
The Folsom Prison Blues Bike Ride will be held on Sunday, and the Race Behind Bars is on Monday, Memorial Day. Both routes will take you along the Johnny Cash Art trail- giving you the incredible opportunity to follow in the tracks of last weekend’s Amgen riders!
May is Bike Month- celebrate by getting out for a ride!
Here’s what you need to know about the cycling events happening this weekend in Folsom:
Folsom Prison Blues Bike Ride
The Folsom Prison Blues Bike Ride is an 8-mile ride. The course will take you across the historic Truss Bridge, over Folsom Lake Crossing with beautiful views of Folsom Lake, past the famous Folsom Prison, and along the scenic 2.5 mile Johnny Cash Trail. Riders will finish in Historic Folsom.
When: Sunday, May 29th.
- Refreshments are at 9:30AM.
- The race begins at 10AM.
Where: Meet up at the Historic Folsom Light Rail Station.

Race Behind Bars
Race Behind Bars takes mountain bike riders out on restricted prison property. This area is off limits at any other time, so don’t try to ride this course ahead of time! The course is roughly 6 miles per lap, taking you through oak woodlands, gravel roads, and creek crossings.
The first two races were held on May 1st and May 15th, but you’re just in time for the third and final race in the series!

When: Monday, May 30th.
- Registration opens at 8AM.
- Open practice begins at 8:30AM.
- The race begins at 10:00AM. Kids 12 and under start at 12:15.
Where: The race begins at the Dan Russell Rodeo Arena in Folsom.
The best parking is at the senior center at 48 Natoma Street. Do not park at the zoo or library.
How much: Registration fees are $35 for adults and $35 for juniors.
Sign up: You can register for the Memorial Day race at the official website. You can also register in-person the day of the race for an additional $10.
